Pete and Mike from SMS Mashups discuss the AppleTV movie The Dink:
The Dink stars Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, Aaron Chen, Ed Harris, Chris Parnell, Ben Stiller, Patton Oswalt, and Andy Roddick.

The IMDB logline reads as follows: A washed-up tennis pro tries to save a club by reluctantly playing pickleball to earn his father’s respect. The Dink is a sports comedy film about the sport of pickleball, directed by Josh Greenbaum, written by Sean Clements, and produced by Ben Stiller and Jake Johnson.
During the podcast, I mention that this movie is what the Netflix show The Hawk should have been—a quick hour-and-forty-five-minute movie instead of a 10-episode show. Yes, this movie is quite corny, but it moves fast, picks its spots for the funny moments, and brings a few laughs every 5-10 minutes or so. What were your thoughts on the movie? Did you enjoy it as I did? The movie will not win any awards, but it was a good comedy, and as Pete says during the podcast, it is a non-romantic romantic movie. The two main characters fall in love/like each other, but one of them does not love the other romantically.
As I said above, I liked this movie; however, the Apple TV shows are a bit superior in my opinion. What made it entertaining was mostly the comedy timing from Patton Oswalt. There was a moment when one of his lines made me laugh out loud for real; check out our conversation to find out which moment.

Also, some of the funniest moments were when Dusty (Jake Johnson) and PJ (Aaron Chen) were interacting with each other, as PJ would believe anything that Dusty would tell him, especially when it involved Dusty’s past, which could have been verified with a Google or YouTube search.
